Webinar: NIH Data Management & Sharing (DMS) Policy Inbox

NIH has issued the Data Management and Sharing (DMS) policy (effective January 25, 2023) to promote the sharing of scientific data. This Policy establishes the requirements of submission of Data Management and Sharing Plans and compliance with NIH Institute, Center, or Office (ICO)-approved Plans. It also emphasizes the importance of good data management practices and establishes the expectation for maximizing the appropriate sharing of scientific data generated from NIH-funded or conducted research, with justified limitations or exceptions

Under the DMS policy, NIH expects that investigators and institutions:

Plan and budget for the managing and sharing of data
Submit a DMS plan for review when applying for funding
Comply with the approved DMS plan
