NIH WORKSHOP: Management of Pain for People with Sickle Cell Disease on July 21-22, 2021

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute will lead a virtual NIH wide- workshop on July 21-22, 2021, “Approaches to Effective Therapeutic Management of Pain for People with Sickle Cell Disease.” Whether you’re a scientist in the field or a researcher who is currently outside the SCD field but interested in the topic, you should find this workshop of interest. Registration is required, and there is no charge. This workshop will be livestreamed and archived for future viewing.

The workshop will focus on various aspects of acute and chronic SCD pain and is designed to:

Discuss the current state of science in SCD acute and chronic pain as well as identify critical knowledge gaps and research challenges
Brainstorm challenges and opportunities for optimizing management of this understudied pain condition in an underserved population
Find the workshop agenda including expert presentations, panel and roundtable discussions, and patient perspectives.
